St James Moorabbin
Welcome to St James, where we pray that God's love in Christ will come to life for you!
Our life in Christ is our daily joy in home and family, at work and school, and wherever we are, seven days a week.
Our communal life is wonderfully served by our recently-redeveloped St James worship centre at 416 South Road, Moorabbin – a short walk from the Moorabbin shopping area and train station.
We were formed in 1950 by Lutherans spreading into the bayside suburbs from other congregations, and we now consist of descendants of these founders, other Lutheran families who’ve moved to the area, and Christians from a range of backgrounds and cultures.
Things that matter to us most
- Gathering for worship to receive the Lord’s word and sacrament within the tradition of the Lutheran church
- Fellowship with one another as a caring church family, often sharing food
- Christ-centred faith lived out in unity and community
Ways we try to put this into practice
- Gathering for weekly worship
- Caring for one another
- Including young and old alike, with opportunities to grow as God's people
- Welcoming newcomers, whatever their cultural heritage
- Providing our redeveloped facilities to engage and serve the wider community
- Participating in the Moorabbin–Dandenong congregation including by contributing to its leadership and finances, and providing the new facilities as a congregational home base
